Drilling
Note
Coming in Spatial Integration version 3: drill holes stored in separate DrillDB files that can be shared between projects, and compositing of downhole intervals.
Drill holes are handled a little differently to most other data. Rather than being read from the original files each time, your drilling is imported into a DrillDB file (extension .sidrill). A DrillDB file is kept in a folder of your choice, usually beside your project, and the project refers to it like any other data source. This lets Spatial Integration draw large numbers of holes quickly, check the data as it comes in, and use one set of holes in several projects.
Working with drilling is a two step process:
- Import your collar, survey and downhole tables into a DrillDB file, which appears as a drill layer in the scene.
- Configure the visualisations that draw the layer: the collars and traces, and one or more downhole displays built from your logged data. Add visualisations by right-clicking the drill layer.
- Drill Manager: Import collar, survey and downhole tables, and view and edit the drill data.
- Compositing: Composite downhole intervals to a fixed length, report significant intersections and calculate metal equivalents (Professional edition).
- Drillhole Display: Configure the collar and trace visualisations, and add downhole displays to a drill layer.
- Discs: Draw a stack of discs along each hole, coloured and sized from interval or point data.
- Graph: Plot a numeric downhole field as a graph running alongside the hole.
- Structure: Draw oriented discs showing the true orientation of structural measurements.
- Interpolation: Krige a numeric downhole column onto a 3D grid, and load the result as a volume.
